IISER: 2010 Aptitude Test Questions

 In the IISER Aptitude test the questions are not published. All the candidates have to return the question papers along with the answer script. So the possibility to get the questions of the original test is less.
However, here are few questions.

For all the below questions 4 options were provided where single answer is correct.

1.) What is the period oscillation of pendulum in a rocket which is moving with an acceleration 'g'?

2.) Name the compound which shows both Frenkel & Schottky defect?
A: AgBr


3.) Which is the national park associated with Rhinoceros?


4.) The time to cool a a body from 67o C to 37o C is 't' at 37o C . Then what is the time required for the above cooling at 7 o C?

IISER : Course Structure

All the students admitted in IISER for BS-MS program should take common courses in all disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics) & Humanities, for the first four semesters. IISER Kolkata has BS-MS in earth sciences also.

From the fifth semester onwards, one may opt for courses in one or more areas. The final year will be devoted to a research project.

After successfully completing the above courses  one will be awarded with the BS-MS degree.

IISER : Courses Offered

The courses offered in IISERs are:

  •  5 year BS-MS dual degree with major in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. IISER Kolkata offers major in Earth sciences also.
  •   Ph.D. degree in all frontier areas of Science and Mathematics
  •   Integrated Ph.D. program for students after B.Sc. (only at IISER Kolkata, coming up in other IISERs)

IISER : Admission Channels

In the IISER's, students are admitted via three different ways:
  • KVPY  

  • IIT JEE

  • IISER Aptitude Science Test ( To appear for the test, candidate should satisfy the minimum required mark in XII. See the Minimum Mark Table ).
    Syllabus of the Aptitude test is syllabus in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics on the pattern of CBSE syllabus of class 11th and 12th standard.

IISER : An Introduction

IISERs ( Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research ) are a group of
premier institutes set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, with a view to promote scientific research and science education of international standards.
It's an An exciting opportunity in science for inquisitive young minds.


Presently, there are five IISERs
located at Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram. Most of them are now working in temporary campuses; but will shift to the permanent campus shortly.
